David Henry Hwang, celebrated Asian American playwright and Chairman of the American Theatre Wing, brings a wealth of experience to the revolutionary act of expanding the American story.  In this candid conversation with Silk Road Rising’s Founding Artistic Director Jamil Khoury, Hwang will respond to questions about representation, yellowface, Asian American identity politics, when is it cultural appropriation and when is it not, the challenges and rewards of creating art in China, and the general state of the American theater as it wrestles with becoming more inclusive.
